 MAST SYSTEMS - LEISURE FURL™
IN-BOOM FURLING

Leisure Furl™ is the worldwide recognized leader in in-boom reefing and furling for boats from 34' LOA to well over 100 feet LOA. the keys to Leisure Furl's success with over 1000 systems sailing, are that the design is focused on serious offshore use, reefing in heavy weather and all with excellent full batten sail shape.

When comparing in-boom systems, it comes down to this:  Are you looking for a convenient way to roll up your sail at the end of the day? or Are you after a serious off shore reefing system which has been proven in heavy weather on countless medium to large yachts?  If you've done your homework, Leisure Furl™ comes out on top.

Leisure Furl™ was developed and is marketed by spar builders of the highest reputation.

Lets take a closer look:

Leisure Furl’s in-built controls ensure sail shape is maximized when both at full hoist or furled, allowing efficient and un-compromised performance from all points of sail.

Whether a manual system driven from a capstan winch in the cockpit, or the larger Mega Yacht system, operated hydraulically, Leisure Furl’s patented design features ensure mainsail control for both hoist and furling remains trouble free and user friendly.

Stay in control:

Leisure furl allows mainsail control at any point of hoist, a perfect sail shape ensured by the built-in sail controls.

Efficient, reliable and aesthetically pleasing the Leisure furl In-Boom Furling System boasts more than a means of mainsail stowage.

Leisure Furl’s many features and advantages are the result of a development and testing program spanning nine years and thousands of ocean mile passages. It is a proven product, tested by over 1000 satisfied customers through some of the world’s toughest oceans and foul weather conditions.

Ideal for New Boat Projects:

The true value of Leisure Furl for new boat projects is fully appreciated when compared to the costs of a conventional (and limiting) slab reefing system.

The Leisure Furl comprises a boom, mainsheet and vang tangs. It eliminates the need for outhaul cars, reefing control lines, rope clutches, mast turning blocks and deck organizers.

The batten ends are well supported, making bat car systems and lazy jacks redundant. Without the reefing cringles and reinforcing patches, the mainsail becomes less expensive and longer lasting.

The Leisure furl system out performs the alternative both in terms of features and convenience, and this proven product attracts serious consideration by the discerning yacht person.

Maximum hoist: Full and uncompromised shape.

With one reef in: Sail is flattened perfectly.

Deep reef position: Ideal sail in rough conditions.

Key Features:

  • Complete control over foot shape and luff tension, without the need of a cunningham or outhaul.
  • Open front section of boom allows sail to move forward as well as back, giving considerable tolerance to sail design and general operation, one of the keys to the success of Leisure furl.
  • Oil impregnated bearings eliminate the possibility of bearing failure or seizure under severe loads.
  • Manual override with locking ratchet allows the system to be operated in the event of equipment failure, or should damage to deck gear or furling line prevent cockpit operation.
  • Existing sails (after modification) are more than satisfactory for the operation of the system.
  • Installation is completed without the need to un-step the rig.
  • Suitable for all sizes of vessel.
  • Full length battens giving shape and power to even an old sail.
  • Full roach in most cases, as opposed to the hollow cut leaches of In Mast Systems.
  • Infinite reefing positions.
  • As proven by top racing yachts the system remains competitive and at no point compromises performance.
